The Garshan massage is a traditional Ayurvedic dry massage performed using silk gloves. The friction during the Garshan massage stimulates the connective tissue, metabolism, and circulation. Ayurveda describes it as eliminating the body's own "toxins" more quickly and easily. The skin appears fresher, and dead skin cells are gently removed during the massage.

The gloves are made of precious bourette raw silk and should therefore be handwashed at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius. If necessary, you can add a little soap. Hang the gloves while wet and let them air dry.

Massage your body in circular motions toward your heart: 1. Begin your self-massage at the back of your neck. 2. Next, massage your arms, starting with your fingers and working up to your shoulders. 3. Next, massage your neck and décolleté. 4. Then, gently massage your stomach in a clockwise direction. 5. Optionally, massage your back yourself using lengthwise strokes or have your partner help you. 6. Massage your hips and buttocks vigorously in circular motions. 7. For which dosha type is the Garshan massage suitable?

In Ayurveda, the Garshan massage is especially recommended for people with a pronounced Kapha dosha. During the Kapha season, people with Pitta or Vata dosha are also advised to practice self-massage. Outside of the Kapha season, these types are more likely to benefit from oil massage.

How do I find out my dosha type?

Can I wash the Garshan gloves in the washing machine?

We recommend washing the gloves by hand. If your washing machine has a gentle handwash cycle, feel free to use it. The detergent you use should be eco-friendly and free of synthetic fragrances. Be sure to let the gloves air dry.
