Detox treatment, detox diet or detoxification program

Autumn is known to be a time when "detox, cleansing, or purification" are at the top of many women's and men's to-do lists. There are countless treatments and products on the market, with many different approaches and promises. Find out now why you should be a little more critical in this regard.

The various names of the treatments alone can cause confusion and uncertainty. Most of us ask ourselves the following questions: Will this really help me? Can I tolerate this detox? Can I do it safely and alone at home? What's the right treatment for me? Will the effects last?

We understand and hear you, and we'd like to provide you with more clarity with this article. We'll start with something very simple: clarification of terms.

Definition of detox

Other common synonyms are: detoxification, elimination, cleansing, purification

1. Whether detox, purification or detoxification – it means the same thing.
2. The effectiveness of these treatments is not scientifically proven.

We fully understand your hesitancy regarding such treatments and products on the market. The next term we'd like to define in this context comes from the world of cytology (cell science): autophagy.

Definition of autophagy

1. Autophagy is a process of cell cleaning and renewal.
2. This process is evidence-based, meaning it has been scientifically studied and confirmed.

How to get into the state of autophagy

As soon as you fast for 13 hours (woman) and 14 hours (man), this cellular recycling process is initiated in the body. This process involves the recycling of metabolic waste, misfolded proteins, and damaged cell components (popularly referred to as toxins or waste products).(1,3)

Our cells can use these components to generate new building blocks or to generate energy for metabolic processes. This is how cells can and are kept healthy and efficient. (2, 3, 4)

This process can also be described as a kind of auto-digestion program that cleanses and thus "detoxifies" the body's cells. If autophagy doesn't occur, this waste accumulates in the cells and can, in the long term, impair important cellular functions.

Detox from an Ayurvedic perspective

In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, autumn is particularly valued for fasting. From an Ayurvedic perspective, fasting is recommended to eliminate the Pitta accumulated during the summer months. According to Ayurveda, this optimally supports the body during the transition between seasons.

Increased Pitta in the body can be noticed, for example, through skin inflammation, irritability, heartburn, belching, or excessive heat in the body. An Ayurvedic fasting cure then specifically relieves the body with warm, cooked, and easily digestible food and restores its balance.

With our Ayurveda Fasting Box, we offer you an easy introduction to Ayurveda and a holistic fasting cure consisting of Ayurvedic dishes, yoga, meditation, cleansing rituals, accompanying tasks, and exciting Ayurveda knowledge in our app.

Tip: Take the free Dosha test in our app and find out which of the three doshas is currently most pronounced in you.

Detox with our fasting boxes

With our fasting programs, we have developed holistic treatments that stimulate your autophagy through balanced calorie reduction, guide you safely through your recovery, and provide naturopathic and Ayurvedic care. This program was developed, among others, by co-founder Prof. Dr. Andreas Michalsen. As a professor at the Charité Berlin and chief physician of the Department of Internal Medicine & Naturopathy at the Immanuel Hospital Berlin, he researches, teaches, and treats patients with a focus on nutritional medicine, therapeutic fasting, and mind-body medicine.

In total, it's 7 days of refreshment, inspiration, and regeneration for body and mind. It's exactly what many people crave this time of year. You start with our fasting box and our Ayurveda fasting box with a detox day. This is followed by 5 days of fasting with dietary-balanced meals. The detox program concludes with the so-called recovery day. Throughout these days, you'll receive recommendations that promote and support the autophagy process. You'll learn, among other things, how to boost your liver's metabolism with simple wraps and receive new ideas that you can use to improve your diet or reduce stress. Yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic cleansing rituals are special features that accompany you exclusively in the Ayurvedic fasting program.

Support your immune system

Approximately 80% of your immune system is located in your gut. This means that your health depends on the quality of your intestinal flora. Through environmental influences, diet, and behavior, we inhale "things" every day that can have both positive and negative effects on intestinal health and the environment. If you are often prone to colds, experience frequent digestive problems, or struggle with fatigue and exhaustion, the cause may lie at the core of your body—in your gut.

You may already know that fasting strengthens your intestinal flora. It builds diversity and thus promotes variety. The more diverse your intestinal flora, the stronger your immune system.
