Intermittent fasting

The basis for intermittent fasting with Salufast is the ideal eating window. The app shows you when you should eat and fast. The eating window is calculated scientifically and is based on your chronotype (the Lark-Owl test), the duration of your intermittent fasting (16:8, 14:10, etc.), and the position of the sun (Berlin by default). Adjust the information to find your ideal eating window. Record your meals and understand the connection to autophagy. Early risers have a different rhythm than late risers.

Regular fluid intake is essential for our bodies and contributes significantly to our health. Find out your ideal daily fluid intake based on your age, gender, and weight and compare it with your actual daily intake.

Apple Health - Connection

We know it can sometimes be tedious to manually enter every single step. That's why we've set up a seamless connection with your iPhone to automatically transfer your steps. Simply allow access to Apple Health and enjoy convenient, automatic activity tracking , which directly impacts your autophagy score .

How do I save articles in the magazine?

You can save each article and read it as often as you like after completing the program. To do this, go to the magazine, open any article, and click the button in the top right corner to save the article. If you now return to the magazine, you can click the icon in the top right corner to view the saved articles.

How do I redeem the activation code from the Fastenbox?

In the menu (top left), you'll find the item "Activate Fasting Program." Click on it and enter your code from the activation code letter into the six boxes. Then, plan your detox day with complete flexibility. The detox day is the day before the fast and prepares your body for the fasting period.

How is my data processed?

Data security is of central importance and is part of our declared company policy as part of our quality promise.

We collect data to create added value for you.

Example: We ask you about your age, gender, height, weight, waist circumference, and hip circumference. Based on this data, the app calculates your age- and gender-specific waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (HHR), and BMI. These three measurements combined are unbeatable when it comes to providing a reliable assessment of your body's constitution.

Our highly encrypted servers are located at Hetzner (Nuremberg) in Germany and are powered by 100% green electricity.

From the start, the app also offers intermittent fasting free of charge and independent of the box.

The Salufast app is the perfect companion for health-oriented intermittent fasting. It offers a wide range of options – the Salufast app adjusts fasting intervals to your individual day-night rhythm and provides clear recommendations.

With the Salufast app, users can independently integrate intermittent fasting into their individual daily routine and sustainably optimize their diet before and after a week of fasting.

Why do I need an account?

You need a Salufast account to enter data and retrieve it the next time you open the app. The data is stored on highly encrypted servers in Germany.

Does the app require my location permission?

No, only optional. Your biorhythm plays an important role in calculating your ideal eating window. The recommendation is based, among other things, on the position of the sun at your current location. The app doesn't require your exact GPS location, but only a rough radius. This option can be found under the Intermittent Fasting Information menu item and is completely optional. The location data will not be saved. If you do not grant this optional permission, Berlin will be preselected by default.

What is behind the autophagy score?

Autophagy is the process by which cells, in the absence of external energy (e.g., due to a lack of food), recycle their own usable components, such as misfolded proteins and other "cellular waste," in order to continue functioning. By breaking down this cellular waste, the cell is relieved of stress and, in a sense, rejuvenated. High levels of autophagy are a key goal of fasting.

Intensive research is currently underway to determine how to measure a "level of autophagy." Our calculation is not an exact measurement, but rather a first step toward illustrating autophagy in the body and how it can be influenced.

Many factors go into calculating autophagy, including the individual's basal metabolic rate, which we determine based on gender, age, and height. This is offset by the meals one eats (the calories provided to the cell as externally supplied energy). The frequency and timing of meal intake are crucial, as the body, according to its own rhythm (circadian rhythm), is better able to digest meals at certain times. We take this into account, among other things, in the recommended eating window and whether the meal is consumed within this window. Vegetarian or vegan meals also have a beneficial effect on autophagy.

To put it simply: When no more food is digested in the app and thus energy is supplied to the cells from outside, autophagy takes effect.
