New findings on fasting: What laboratory tests reveal about the effectiveness of our fasting boxes

At Salufast, we don't just want to claim the effectiveness of our fasting products, we want to prove it. Therefore, in collaboration with our partner laboratory, GANZIMMUN Diagnostics GmbH, we conducted an insightful observational study on fasting. Thirty interested individuals from the GANZIMMUN network participated in this mini-study, including employees and patients/clients of GANZIMMUN partners such as alternative practitioners. Various health markers were examined before and after a 5-day fasting period with our Salufast fasting boxes.
GANZIMMUN analyzed health markers before the fast, immediately afterward, and again some time later. It's important to emphasize that this is not a traditional medical study conducted by a scientific institute with a comprehensive research process, but rather a practical observation under real-life conditions. However, the fact that it was conducted by GANZIMMUN, a respected and accredited laboratory considered a pioneer in holistic and preventative medicine, guarantees the high reliability of the results.
Main observations:

Inflammatory markers:
The post-marketing study showed a notable change in C-reactive protein (CRP), an important marker of inflammation in the blood. In participants with initially elevated levels, CRP levels decreased by an average of 40.2% after fasting. However, they rebounded at follow-up and were then only 5.6% below baseline. This observation suggests that fasting may have anti-inflammatory effects, potentially leading to far-reaching health benefits.
Cholesterol levels :
The observations showed an inconsistent development of cholesterol levels:
- Total cholesterol decreased by an average of 13.9% after fasting, but increased slightly again at follow-up and was still 5.4% below baseline.
- The “bad” LDL cholesterol decreased by 15.1% and remained 8.6% lower than at baseline at follow-up.
- The "good" HDL cholesterol levels changed inconsistently. After fasting, they increased slightly, indicating a potentially positive shift in their cholesterol profile. At follow-up, they decreased again in some participants.
For a comprehensive analysis of your personal cholesterol profile and other cardiovascular risk factors, Salufast offers the Heart Risk Blood Test from medivere. This test provides detailed information on blood lipid levels and can help assess your individual heart health risk.
Liver function:
Another interesting effect was observed in liver function. The gamma-GT level, an indicator of liver stress, decreased by a remarkable 26.4% after fasting and remained 24.8% lower at follow-up. This could indicate a possible relief of liver stress through fasting.
Kidney function:
The post-marketing study provided evidence of a slight improvement in renal function. Cystatin C levels, a marker of renal function, decreased by an average of 6.9%. At the same time, the glomerular filtration rate increased slightly.
Intestinal health:
Analysis of the gut microbiome revealed interesting but inconsistent changes:
- Bacterial diversity remained stable in most participants and improved slightly in some.
- In some participants, there was evidence of improved intestinal barrier function, while in others it worsened.
For deeper insight into your personal gut health, Salufast offers the Gut Microbiome Basic Test from medivere. This test can provide valuable insights into the composition of your individual gut microbiome and uncover potential imbalances.
Complementary tests for a holistic health picture
In addition to the parameters examined in the post-marketing study, there are other important health markers that may be relevant for a comprehensive understanding of your health status. Especially in the context of fasting and a conscious diet, we recommend considering the following aspects. These additional tests can be valuable additions to our fasting support and help you take a holistic view of your health and optimize it.
For this purpose, we offer four different tests from Medivere:
Omega-3 index:
The Omega-3 Index is an important marker for heart health and can provide information about your supply of essential fatty acids. Although this parameter was not directly measured in the current study, we offer the Omega-3 Index + DHA & EPA blood test . This test can help you determine your personal Omega-3 status and adjust your diet if necessary, which can be especially important after a period of fasting.
Vitamin B12 status:
Vitamin B12 plays a central role in metabolism and is an important nutrient, especially for people who regularly fast or follow a plant-based diet. To check your vitamin B12 status, we offer a vitamin B12 urine test . This test can detect a potential deficiency early and thus help you optimize your diet after fasting.
Conclusion and outlook:
Our Salufast observational study provides initial insights into the potential health effects of fasting. The results suggest that controlled fasting may have positive effects on inflammatory markers, cholesterol levels, and liver and kidney function. These observations reinforce our belief that controlled fasting can be a promising approach to health promotion.
However, it is important to emphasize that these results are based on a limited post-marketing study with only 30 participants and do not have the validity of a comprehensive clinical trial. Individual responses can vary widely, and further, larger studies are needed to confirm and better understand the observed effects.
Fasting with Salufast is intended for healthy individuals without pre-existing medical conditions or medication. If you still wish to fast, we strongly recommend consulting a doctor before beginning a fasting period. Fasting is not suitable for everyone and should always be undertaken under professional supervision.
For anyone who would like to try fasting, we offer various fasting boxes, including our classic 5-day fasting box , Variation II , and a special Ayurvedic fasting box . These boxes contain carefully selected fasting meals and instructions for a safe and effective fast.
In conclusion, we believe this study highlights the potential of fasting as a complementary measure to a balanced diet, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle. At Salufast, we will continue to work on optimizing our products and look forward to accompanying you on your journey to greater health and well-being.
